Another member of the 1969 promotion winning team, Derek Ryder, recalls his time at Rochdale

Name: Derek Ryder

DOB: 18th February 1947

Dale debut: Scunthorpe United – 10th August 1968

Last game: Barnsley – 3rd April 1972

Also played for: Leeds United, Cardiff City, Southport

Time at Dale: Having spent my early time at Leeds United as an apprentice before moving down to Cardiff City for a couple of years, I served under two managers at Rochdale, gentlemen Bob Stokoe and Len Richley, who were a privilege to work for, making 167 appearances in the Football League scoring a solitary goal.

The most difficult opponent was Jimmy Conway (Fulham & Eire international)

Favourite memories of playing for Dale: Playing with the promotion winning team with excellent team players great days to be involved at the club with a great atmosphere both in the dressing room and on the terraces, especially after the win against Southend United on 10th May 1969.

What are you doing since leaving Dale?: Retired living in Leeds living the life!!!
