Memories at Dale: Great memories of being in the 1969 squad that reached promotion from Division Four, first time this had been achieved by the Club in the Football League

Best memory was winning against Coventry in the 3rd round of the FA Cup 2-0 at Spotland watched by a crowd over 15,000 plus scoring a hat trick against Brighton & Hove Albion at home.

Best Manager was the great Bob Stokoe.

What are you doing since leaving Dale?:

Retired with arthritis with first replacement hip at only 33 years old which lead to going into the pub trade lasting for over 40 years before retiring in Salisbury, Wiltshire with wife, Joyce.

Hughen would like everyone to know he is currently fighting Blood Cancer which was diagnosed in December 2020 and also to say he is doing amazing, as everyone knows he TACKLES everything well.

Hughen was invited to hospitality with the family for the home match against Oldham Athletic on Saturday 25th September, staying for the weekend with Joyce plus daughter, Mandi and husband.

They thoroughly enjoyed themselves visiting old haunts and meeting old friends, bringing back great memories.
