HOSPITALITY SUCCESS AT ROCHDALE AFC

HOSPITALITY SUCCESS AT ROCHDALE AFC
During March, we witnessed appearances from Willie Burns and Andy Thorpe reminiscing about their time at Rochdale AFC with some interesting tales for diners prior to kick off.
Willie Burns, who was booked in to entertain the 40+ Exiles attending the match against Stevenage substituted for Darren Ryan brilliantly expressing his view about the events at Burnley, where he was one of two players to be sent off in a famous 1-0 victory and his pass late on at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup to Peter Ward that should have been put away.
Andy Thorpe spoke at the match against Swindon Town expressing his delight at working at Dale involving being physio with all the added duties having been given his chance by Steve Parkin.
More ex Dale players have been booked in for the remaining home matches below:
Shaun Reid – Walsall, Saturday 7th April, 3pm KO
Shaun came through Dale’s Youth Team and had two spells at the club. The first came between 1983 and 1988, and the second was for three years between 1992 and 1995.
He went on to make 432 Football League appearances with over half of them being for Dale.
Paul Butler – Bradford City, Saturday 15th April, 3pm KO
Paul began his career with Dale and made nearly 200 appearances for the club between 1991 and 1996.
He went on to play in the Premier League with Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers, as well as earning an international cap for the Republic of Ireland.
Wayne Goodison – Tranmere Rovers, Tuesday 18th April, 7.45pm KO
Wayne played for the club between 1989 and 1991.
He went on to play for Hyde United, Accrington Stanley and Buxton, before moving into coaching with the likes of Salford City and 1874 Northwich.
Kevin Townson and Lee McEvilly – Sutton United, Saturday 29th April, 3pm KO
Townson and ‘Evil’ were teammates during the early 2000s, when Dale reached the Division Three playoffs in 2002.
McEvilly left in 2004 – Townson in 2005, but Evil would return for a second and third spell at the club later that decade.
